Almost Perfect

The almost-perfect game frought with human error and strife becomes a story of courage and inspiration... to me.http://ow.ly/1TL4L #mlb

(Read many of the other write-ups on the subject)

Achievement
Passion
Disappointment
Honesty
And above all ... Forgiveness

It really is an impressive story... better than the movies... and set to share a message to millions.

No it's not a happy story, it's not a comedy... but not all stories need a laugh to make us better people.

BYU national champs… I can hope

Having 4 of top ten teams all coming from the Big12 is helpful to BYU rankings.
They still have to play eachother.
Missouri doesn't play Oklahoma in the regular season but if it comes down to it they'll play in the championship.

Same thing with the SEC. There are a lot of high ranked teams from that conference

Oklahoma(1) plays Texas(5) on the 11th of october

Missouri has an easier road. But eventually has to play the Big 12 south conference at the end of the year championship game.

In the mean time they play Nebraska this week and then an undefeated Oklahoma St(21) the next week and then an undefeated texas the week after. If they continue to win they'll be doing good but they'll be dropping those around them in the rankings.

LSU(3) doesn't play for a little while but then has to play Florida(12) 10/11 and then Georgia(11) 10/25
If they get past them pushing each of those two teams to 2 losses they'll have to play Alabama(2) the second week of november.

Speaking of Alabama(2) they seem to have a decently easy road for a while until that LSU game... which just means if they loose they drop big. Of course this week they do play an undefeated Kentucky even though they're not ranked.

There is the probablility of a few of the other unranked and undefeated in other conferences like Kentucky to beat some of their conference opponents catapulting them ahead of BYU who doesn't play the likes of Georgia, Florida, Alabama. Wins against all those would rightfully place them in the top. They can still win against those big guys for all I'm concerned but for BYU to make it farther they'll need to loose against some of the lesser opponents and they're in a tough conference.

Week 6… how it affects BYU

Games that impact BYU

No. 1 Oklahoma at Baylor - Shouldn't be too hard, but a loss would be a big upset.

Kentucky at No. 2 Alabama - Remember Kentucky is undefeated even though unranked.

No. 4 Missouri at Nebraska - I see this one as being a possible upset Nebraska lost first game of year last week in a close one to a 3-1 Virginia Tech who was upset by the once powerful upset team East Carolina

No. 5 Texas at Colorado - Colorado is 3-1 and Texas hasn't any challenging games as of yet

No. 6 Penn State at Purdue - Purdue hasn't done anything against big teams this year.

No. 7 Texas Tech at Kansas State - Kansas St really hasn't played anyone hard though they are 3-1. Tech should be able to handle this one and keep their place in the rankings.

No. 8 Brigham Young at Utah State - They have to win by a lot to help their place in the rankings. A close win would bring them down a couple spots in the rankings. And a loss to USU would be equivalent to like 2-3 regular losses.

No. 23 Oregon at No. 9 USC - these two pac10 teams beating up on eachother will make big impacts in their rankings. USC win brings them right back into the picture and an Oregon win salvages a chance to claw their way back. 2 loss USC makes it hard to fathom above undefeated elsewhere. would be detrimental... a loss to this team is like 2-3 regular losses.

Pittsburgh at No. 10 South Florida - South Florida should win this, though it isn't impossible 3-1 pittsburg takes it.

No. 14 Ohio State at No. 18 Wisconsin - One of these will most likely be out of the chase. An Ohio st win should bump them up the rankings a few notches.

No. 13 Auburn at No. 19 Vanderbilt - Vanderbilt is undefeated and a win here with jump them way up. And auburn only having lost to LSU could benefit heavily with a win to an undefeated vanderbilt.\

Summary

So of the 7 teams ahead of #8 BYU none of them might really loose this week and even if one does USC could win their game and easily jump ahead of BYU. South Florida could even go ahead of BYU with a good win as well.

My prediction

At the worst they end up ranked #10

At the best 2 of those teams loose... or one team plus USC and BYU gains a rank to #7

Most Likely I see them dropping a rank to #9 at the end of the week.
