Winning
Charlie Sheen embodies what it means to be a celebrity... and he doesn't hide it or BS you!
He is what YOU made and what you Wanted. You Winners wanted Celebrity well you got Celebrity!
Just like he says: perhaps you just can't Handle it.
Don't go thinking he's some crazy enigma that resembles none of the other people you put your time with. None of the other celebrities.
He is Hollywood, He is Celebrity, He is your Idol, He is TV, He is a modern star.
They flock to him and his Tiger Blood by the millions. He really is Winning!
Don't like that? Well perhaps you should change your definition of Winning, because to so many people he fits their opinion of Winning so well.
Don't blame Charlie for pointing this all out, don't get up an arms... What Winning standards are you going to live by?... separate yourselves, don't sit there and complain.
Are you going to take the Win for yourselves by Earning it! or are you just gonna sit there and cry and moan about how he didn't really win? What babies! You're just proving his point ever more.
Glee is a Moral Enigma
Glee goes from having no stance on principles in one episode... to morally repulsive on another episode... to being quite inspiring in another. Sometimes all 3 in the same episode.
And I just can't figure it out. I ask myself: what guides them in what they do and the writing for their show?
Perhaps it's this mixture effect that is the most worriesome of all.
Let me explain: They show very inspiring scenes of togetherness and reconciliation, non-opression of others, they show how to be unique and creative and several other very commendable principles.
It worries me that people see that great stuff and think that ALL of what they show is commendable.
Sometimes they show what a character is doing is obviously misguided but more often they don't.
And while some people can watch and make correct judgements for themselves about what is good and bad, I fear the typical audience takes it all in.
The moment I think the show has some strong stance on Adultery, Hedonism and Homosexuality they'll do another show which I can't follow them on.
Materialism is practically worshipped on one show only to have a song bashing it on another show.
In a way I guess of kind of like the fresh method in which they throw it all out there and say this is how life is... full of ambiguos and hard decisions in picking apart a situation and figuring out where the truth ends and the lies start.
But make no mistake it's full of both... lies and truths. A dangerous combination as I think many of us know.
But to those willing to think the issues through and center themselves on true principles it can be a show that could be beneficial. And yes probably destructive to others.
Kings – Best show ever?
I present to you what might possibly be the best show of all time:
http://www.hulu.com/kings
It starts strong and never lets you down.
It is Shakespeare to the ear and produced and acted like no other.
It is a worthy allegory of a bible story in which anyone can find meaning.
Contains depth you can dive your mind into and think about for a long time.
It is ripe for our age, our politics, our society, our morals, our character.
It doesn't tell you what to think, but gives you much to think on.
It even makes me want to talk all emphatically, like so!
-
Other shows can appeal to your senses (laughter or tears or fear) but can they be better than this? More epic?
Jack Bauer for all his coolness... fades, because of the lack of substance substituting flashy explosions.
Lost makes you think... but when does the (cool) gimick run thin?
The office is amazing and a great release, but no one dares to consider it epic.
Many have importantly touched on current themes and some have even set place in the past or future.
Pushing dasies which I praised in the past was unique and refreshing, but was only entertainment in a very artistic way.
How often do we get a story like this one. With characters as complex, how great that they don't try to impress us with pandering to the way we talk, they are not ashamed to be like a bible story with no sense of shame.
Neither do they try to mimic the story of David word for word.
It is an allegory, a poem a story that can be internalized as such by each viewer.
We love it because we trust the writers, the actors do their job superbly... but we know it isn't the actors that really choose the essence of the show.
We know the writers are not stooping... they do not say i'm sorry and dumb it down for us.
It is a show that says come up to our level, you have been babied too long.
We shall give you a Shakespearian play for you to discuss in your classrooms. We shall give you a chapter in the old testament.
I do hope this is not the lone beacon for media, but a lighthouse to the industry. That we enjoy your jokes and whimsy.
But we do want inspiration and we will have depth, and sometimes it's not all about appealing to the numbers, but providing a legacy to be proud of.
They can certainly be proud of Kings - (This I say of course as long as they continue to stay true and not waiver say as David or Saul)
Though I might be caught up in the emotion of it... I would allow you to submit for consideration and discussion: a possible Better show.
Dr. Horrible & Hulu.TV
People should check out Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
The name threw me off a little but it's a short 40 minute movie that's really fun, funny and catchy.
I've actually watched it several times and have grown very fond of the songs.
It's on Hulu.com which I also highly recomend as an awesome place to legally and easily watch tv shows and movies.

My TV Top 15
These are my top 15 tv shows playing right now... When it switches up I'll let you know.
1. Pushing Daisies - The pilot was amazing: New, funny, witty, endearing and a wonderful idea. From where it started it's got a hard road to climb, but it keeps this up and it will be a lot of people's all time favorite show.
2. House - It's always been a facinating show but this new twist with lots of new characters fighting for a chance to be the next gang.... well that pushed this show to #2 on my list. Plus the fact you put a black
3. The Office - One of funniest show on the list... but sometimes humor and being endeared to the characters can only go so far, plus it has plenty of fans that like it as if it were #1... and #3aint bad. Both episodes so far have been well done and things have been moving suprisingly fast.
4. Smallville - The story of superman is always facinating, specially when it gets to season 7 and you know that things start getting more and more interesting and he starts becoming more like superman. I like that they try to throw in some ideas to ponder... Plus when you throw in a new star with questions and problems to sort through of her own, it can only get better.
5. Chuck - It's got some funny characters, an interesting (though not completely compelling) story line. In fact I don't know why it's at #5... I suppose that means it probably looks to be going down next week.
6. Heroes - Don't get me wrong it's a cool story and widely popular. The first show didn't impress... but it didn't let down. We'll see where it goes from there.
7. Big Bang Theory - I liked CBS' The Class from last year, thought it was funny and it dealt with people almost exactly my age. It didn't last on to this season. This is another funny ha ha show, not dealing with a serious plot and working on witty giggles and situational laughs. I like this one better than The Class and others in it's Genre... the difference, I suppose I like the characters more so... They're more unique and with more potential for a unique brand of humor.
8. Kid Nation - I find myself wanting to know what will happen to them. I got interested with all the issues regarding the show, the "Big Moral Dilema" and perhaps that's what has made me want to watch it more many things... I support the idea and unlike most other reality shows it has something that it can stand to prove. The characters can be more and make more of a statement... it's not the Same Ol'.
9. Dirty Sexy Money - Scandalous sounding however not so bad... I suppose i like it so much because it reminds me a lot of Arrested development. A couple of the characters are really memorable. We'll see how long that keeps people (me) interested. Or whether it truly does become scandalous.
10. K-Ville - House was my entrance into the medical shows... I wonder if this will be my interest into detective-ish shows. But really on second thought it doesn't seem like one at all. It's an action show and the thing that got me initially interested is the look at New Orleans after the flood, that seemed interesting... and it has been so far.
11. Simpsons - Had to put it on the list, even though I didn't think the season premiere was anything special. I just put it on because well... it's the Simpsons.
12. Ugly Betty - Some new interesting developements that spice things up, I liked the first episode and will continue all the way through the end of the season. But I can't put it ahead of other new shows that have someting new to offer or the old favorites that have slightly more interesting ideas.
13. Carpoolers - Umm one episode in and it wasn't quite enough to make a proper idea of what it will be all about. But I saw enough to still give it a chance and apparently liked it enough to put it on the list.
14. Power of 10 - For a Game show I thought it has the most interesting of questions. Drew Carrey is a good host and it doesn't go insanely slow like some of the other shows. Though it is still a tad slow.
15. Friday Night Lights - Haven't seen it yet, and though it doesn't becken for me to turn on NBC right now... I know i'll watch it all and I'll like it. So I see it moving up once i get re-hooked, and at that time it will be nice that there will be a couple of episodes in a row to watch.
---
They'd be on the list if they were showing | Or they might be on the list if I had seen an episode:
Jericho - Starts up later and this one will jump on the list automatically. High on the list.
Lost - Not sure when it starts up again. But it will be on the list.
24 - It starts in Jan. An automatic on the list... though it will have to offer something new to be high on the list.
Prison Break - I still have to catch up on last season before I start watching this season.
Veronica Mars - Though I think I'm caught up... I heard something about it being canceled.
Battlestar Gallactica - I'm not sure if this is a fall/winter show... I know if I were watching it presently it would be up at the top. It's an Genius of a show.Honorable Mention: (No specific order)
Journeyman - Reminds me a lot of daybreak.... a whole lot. I liked daybreak, but daybreak got canceled, so perhaps i just can't put my heart into this one yet.
Mad Men - Liked the episodes i've seen but it's been a while since I've seen an episode.
Big Shots - Thought it was good... perhaps if it stays good and gets more interesting It'll be up in the list no problem.
30 Rock - Not bad but i don't think it would ever be a top 15 for me.
Cavemen -Thought I'd mention it, because I might not again. I don't mind it being around and I don't hate it. But i doubt it will ever make the list.
Bionic Woman - Skeptical about it... did better than expected. Has a ways to go but it could do it.
Non-Typical shows - Not to be considered for list:
Daily show, Colbert Report or all the great Discovery and National Geographic such as Man vs. Wild and Beyond Tomorrow.
Kid Nation – My Response
This is in response to comments being made around a new reality TV show!
The comments aren't on my blog but here's the response anyway...
-----------------------
Man you are all sooo right!
I am not ever going to send my kids to a Camp... Ever!
Because they could sprain their ankles for heaven sakes.
Or worse learn how to not be waited on hand and foot, and do stuff, and make a statement.
I want to be just like ya'll let kids be little animals that run around asking for me to cook their food and expect me to bring it to them while they play their video games. Pretty much I want them to be in My little world that I think is proper and safe.
Camps (and in fact camping) is such a horrid idea to me now... specially when no one but the individual is responsible!
I want someone else to be responsible for my actions always!
Perhaps it's true they took care of them even though they weren't legally obliged to... they had dozens of people on staff to help them at any time. But still...!!!
How could we let our kids be subject to what we consider exploitation... when we should have that similar privilege every day at our jobs.
Perhaps I am being utterly Hypocritical with the rest of you but I feel concern for these kids who are in less harm there than in a public school... and I say they should at least not be paid to do this! That would make it better!
Or at least take away our rights to send these kids to well supervised camps that teach lessons (that don't have a grading curve involved)
Despicable!
Pushing Daisies
I would and will watch it again.
And that is saying a lot from someone who doesn't watch things again unless they're particially intelligent and insightful or humorous and in the company of a couple people to laugh with (The office, Simpsons, Arrested Development)
I LOVE IT!
A beautiful, funny, sweet, eye appealing, witty, charming FAIRY tale for our days.
I'm telling everyone I talk to about it... I think anyone that missed it, should go to abc.com and watch it RIGHT NOW!
It's so sweet and kind and utterly different that it makes me look back to the time I watched it (20 minutes ago) and think on it very fondly and even teary eyed to its beautiful messages. One of which is that people can Love without jumping to Sex before the end of the show.
And speaking (for what it counts) as a photographer, it's visually very beautiful!

Best Review on E - Spends more time reviewing why you should watch it and less telling you the whole story.
I mean why would you do that? You're gonna watch it any way right?

More short reviews to come:
So far I can say that I like Chuck alot and The Office did not let us down.
I also really like NBCs new game show Power of 10
Heroes, House and others are personal favs.
Others that I wouldn't go as far as recomending but I'll watch again so far:
Big Shots, K-Ville
Fall TV Shows : By Day
Disclaimer: I watch while I work... I couldn't see myself watching this much TV if it didn't have something else going on.
Watching helps me stick with my projects for a longer period of time... even if I'm a little less effective.
Personally I think it would be a waste of time to watch all these shows under other circumstances.
THIS IS WHAT I CONSIDER THE BEST OPTIONS : In order of my interest
MONDAY
Heroes - Of course
Chuck - Like I said the story intrigues me, but it could be a flop.
Journeyman - Can't remember a lot about this one, but I think it had an interesting plot.
Prison Break - I used to love this show, not sure why I just stopped watching half way through last year.
K-Ville - I'll give it a couple of episodes
Samantha Who? - Might as well give it a shot.
Two and a half Men - It's been around but I've never seen it... it's won a bunch of awards.
TUESDAY
House - One of my constant favorites
Carpoolers - New. Could go either way... I'm thinking south, but perhaps that's what carries the most intrigue.
Caveman - Mere curiosity.
Reaper - The name is the only thing I have to go by and it's interesting enough for an episode
Boston Legal - I've seen that it's won some awards and been around. I don't like crime shows but maybe this is an IN to the genre. Gotta give it a shot someday, why not with the award winner.
Bones - I've heard of it... never seen it.
Singing Bee - Curiosty... that's about it.
WEDNESDAY
Pushing Daisies - By far the most anticipated. I think I'll be a fan of the concept and the style of videography.
Bionic Woman - It'll be like watching a long movie. That's my guess. Not your favorite movie, but a good action you like whether it's the best or not.
Life -This is my unknown that I pick to surprise me.
Dirty Sexy Money - Seems like a show that will entertain every so often, but will it warrant continuous watching.
Anchorwoman - Hmmm not sure... could suck bad.
Back To You - Don't know much... don't expect much.
Kid Nation - Just because of the hype and the fact that I think people are over blowing the situation... therefore I'll watch an episode. I don't expect to like it.
30 Days - Only if it's an interesting subject
THURSDAY
The Office - Of Course
Smallville - One of the constants on the List.
Supernatural - As soon as I finish season 2 I'm all for watching more.
Ugly Betty - A story you can follow and I will continue to follow.
Big Shots - Interesting story... perhaps. I'll give it a try.
Scrubs - There's probably like 15 more seasons I need to watch before I start the new season. Though it doesn't seem like the show you need to be caught up on... but that's the way I'll do it.
30 Rock - I have seen it off and on, and it's alright. Might as well watch a few more.
Don't forget the Lyrics - I don't think I'll watch more than a couple of episodes because I'll have seen it all.
Grey's Anatomy - I'll watch it if I get around to watching the first couple of seasons.
My name is Earl - I'll watch it if I get around to watching the first couple of seasons.
FRIDAY
Friday Night Lights - Great show... I'll continue to watch (Not on friday's of course)
SATURDAY - Nothing
SUNDAY
The Simpsons - The movie renewed interest in a classic.
Curb your Enthusiasm / Dexter- I've heard good things about it... but don't know a thing
Family Guy / American Dad - Not too interested these days but will give it a shot when in the mood.
Top 10 : New Fall TV 2007
Disclaimer: I watch while I work... I couldn't see myself watching this much TV if it didn't have something else going on.
Watching helps me stick with my projects for a longer period of time... even if I'm a little less effective.
List of New Shows in order of interest
1.Pushing Daisies (They have this one set up to be a winner... I have a feeling it will be)
2. Chuck (I don't think many people will be watching it at first... and if it sucks at all. But i'm intrigued by the story line)
3. Bionic Woman (Could go either way and I see the possibility of a early cancellation... but...It’ll be like watching a long movie. That’s my guess. Not your favorite movie, but a good action you like whether it’s the best or not.)
4. Journeyman - It looked like it had an interesting plot. It looked like one of the similar style series of late... series which I tend to like even if they aren't totally unique.
5. Carpoolers - I give this two episodes to impress or I'll probably stop watching... or it will go off the air for me.
6. Big Shots - I'm not sure how interested i really am... but I'm interested in at least a show. It could be one of those filler shows, that I watch just to watch and not because I'm excited to watch.
7. Caveman (Destined to Disappoint... but I'm still interested)
8. K-Ville (Crime shows aren't my style but I'm interested in the Louisiana aspect of it all)
9. Samantha Who? (I don't think this will be unique or terribly exciting but... why not?)
10. Anchorwoman, Life, Reaper, Big Bang Theory (Don't know a thing... or if they're even new, but they sounded new)
