Creativity and Liberty

OBJECTIVES

My life seems to have two objectives.
To inspire people towards Creativity and Liberty.

The kingly virtues

Because they're so important I feel that the ideas behind them get obscured too often.
Dethrone the kingly virtues like these by removing the meaning behind the symbols. And soon we're marching in the streets and waving flags just because we've always done it.

CREATIVITY

Creativity = phenomenon whereby a person creates something new (a product, a solution, a work of art etc.) that has some kind of value.
Creative solutions are what I admire most. But I think that all 3 aspects of creativity interelate and empower the mind and the person.
I think it is a capacity we can grow and I think that this capability that should be stressed more than ever.

Creativity can lead to a more capable life... capable of achievining and attaining more liberty.

LIBERTY

I think Liberty is one of the greatest of gifts that God has given us. It is known by many names. Freedom, Free Choice and Free Will to name a couple.
Often there are so many cliches attached to the concept and we are in danger of really grasping the importance in our hearts how necisary it is.

I believe that the first conflict among men was fought over the theme of Liberty and I believe we still must fight for it and I believe that in the future this will be the crux of the fight as well.

This is still God's world. The forces of evil, working through some mortals, have made a mess of a good part of it. But it is still God's world. In due time, when each of us has had a chance to prove ourselves--including whether or not we are going to stand up for freedom--God will interject himself, and the final and eternal victory shall be for free agency. And then shall those complacent people on the sidelines, and those who took the wrong but temporarily popular course, lament their decisions. To the patriots I say this: Take that long eternal look. Stand up for freedom, no matter what the cost. Stand up and be counted. It can help to save your soul--and maybe your country.

and

“Of course, the war in heaven over free agency is now being waged here on earth, and there are those today who are saying ‘Look, don't get involved in the fight for freedom. Just live the gospel.’ That counsel is dangerous, self-contradictory, unsound…Now, part of the reason we may not have sufficient priesthood bearers to save the Constitution let alone to shake the powers of hell, is because unlike Moroni, I fear, our souls do not joy in keeping our country free, and we are not firm in the faith of Christ nor have we sworn with an oath to defend our rights and the liberty of our country. Moroni raised a title of liberty and wrote upon it these words: ‘In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children.’ Why didn't he write upon it: ‘Just live your religion; there's no need to concern yourselves about your freedom, your peace, your wives, or your children’? The reason he didn't do this was because all these things were a part of his religion, as they are of our religion today. Should we counsel people, ‘Just live your religion. There's no need to get involved in the fight for freedom’? No, we should not, because our stand for freedom is a most basic part of our religion; this stand helped get us to this earth, and our reaction to freedom in this life will have eternal consequences. Man has many duties, but he has no excuse that can compensate for his loss of liberty.”

- Ezra Taft Benson

I choose to lead a life centered on human liberty. Next to the atonement of Christ and his eternal plan for our salvation it is this agency, this free will, this liberty that I am most thankful for.

PRINCIPLES

I believe that true eternal principles are what are most powerful and most worthy of our time and effort.

The root principles that I try to see and implement in everything I do: Liberty, Love, Eternal Progression, Stewardship

Principles above politics, principles above party, principles above propaganda.
Choose good eternal principles in all situations ... "Do what is right, let the consequence follow"

A Faithful Hand

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person;
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but to put them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together,
knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping, and then, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away.
-George Elliot

What I want

I want to always be strong.
I want to continue to be the one that helps and supports others.
I like giving, I like teaching.
I like sharing my talents, photography, humor and even principles.

Who wants other people to see them at their weakest?
Why would we want to let people know there are problems... to view us like we're damaged?
Why to cry and bemoan our fate, like the annoying people we know who are always complaining and bringing others down.

Why hide it?

Principled Voting for a Principled leader

I've disliked McCain for a while.

I've disliked McCain since I first saw him.
Which was at the republican debates or maybe it was before that on the Daily Show. There was something about him that I couldn't quite put into words.
I've tried.
The best word i've come up with was "Snarky".

Besides the fact I don't agree with a lot of his actual positions.
(I suppose I agree with more of his positions than a more socialist type president.)

But civil liberties and the overeaching of the government is probably the main concern and high profile republicans have become the main opponents of those rights.

Which is wierd because their platform and actions of the past used to be on the side for good on many of our rights and a smaller less corruptible government.

Changing their minds or what some call Flip-Flopping

But that aside it's sad that so many good republicans who once vowed they would never vote for McCain during the primaries... are now "flip flopping" and saying they will indeed vote for him.
I was so excited because I thought they were gonna take a stand for something.
Make a statement.
Follow their heart and their principles.
Now it looks like they aren't.

They're gonna fall into the pernicious evil that tells us that it's alright to choose evil... as long as it's less evil than the other evil. Talk about going down "by degrees"

Some better things to talk about

The issues of our time that we should be talking about aren't being talked about:
We accept where are country has gone, we do not question the actions of our past leaders.
We do not fix past problems the way we should. We accept that someone installed a poor economic system and only resolve to keep it afloat rather than change it or restore it. We patch the education system with programs like the no child left behind. Instead of changing it to a principled based system. We insist that no one should be allowed to fail.
If you're LDS that philosophy might sound familiar. There was a certain someone that once proposed a plan that I find very similar about how no one would fail with him at the helm.

We also allow ourselves to be duped to believe that preventative wars and messing in the affairs of other countries is just fine because of safety. We also allow ourselves to give up our liberties (ex. privacy, speach, unreasonable searches, bare arms) to have more safety. We don't hold to our principles that inspired founders and the constitution taught us. When we give up liberty for safety we will have neither. There are many muddled affairs and it's hard to know the best things to do. The challenges of our leaders are difficult. They analyse and hold strong to their analysis, but what they don't understand is that living by a principled truth is much better and much easier.

Principles to live by in my opinion

  • Do not give up our rights,
  • do not be the agressor,
  • do not grab for power,
  • do not forget our god,
  • don't lead by fear,

"Give me liberty..." this should be above Health Care, money, agressive wars, or even dare i say it education.

So many patriots of old believed it to be so important that it was first even above their own lives.
It was their own abusive government they were fighting btw.
(Heaven help us that it doesn't come to that once again.)

The constitution is the inspired wisdom that was set in place to protect what was most important. It was not created to make sure the chinese or the french or the iranians took away our liberty. It was made so we ourselves wouldn't do it.

Obama

And as for Obama.
What principles guide him?
Because then we can understand how his policies will go down.

Does he want no one to fail?
Are those 5 bold points among his donts?

Will he bring us back our lost liberties?
will he lead the saftey of our country in a principled way?
will he turn our hearts to god (without telling us or forcing our hand)?
will he try to lead through fear?
will he make sure no one person or persons gets too much power and maintain a system of checks and balances?
Will he protect the citizens from the government like the constitution intended?
Will he make people stand up on their own... or will he force them to stand up?
How about the stand on principled economics? How about the national debt?

Only principled politics will lead us to great things.
Patching the holes on a sinking boat is not the answer.

Throwing down the gauntlet… political style.

I'm throwing down the gauntlet:
Why would you vote for the 2 parties that DO NOT offer change!?
Seriously: Get some balls!

And I mean that in the most loving way ;)

(Probably preaching to the choir... but seriously we're such a bunch of lazy pawns)

Whining/Crying: "But I just want to vote for the candidate that wins... I'm not into that whole principled decision thing"

When the rich wage war

When the rich wage war it's the poor who die.
Jean-Paul Sartre
Not saying that I believe everything this guy said, or that this is the only reason wars are started.
But many wars have been started to obtain things. Land, goods, money, power.
If this is done it's not a good thing.
Stand on principle!
Why did they fight the American Revoluition?
And for heaven sakes don't be the agressor... preventitive wars are moraly on shakey ground.
And if do not stand on moral principles what else is there?
Do we turn things into economic principles? Because it's my understanding that when the rich wage war it's the poor who die. Just sayin.
